BY Friends of PANart does that mean that we can also include the other makes that are now available?
OR
Is it simply a case of PANart and nothing else on this forum?

Im just wondering as I will have possibly a non PANart drum soon and will still require info, tutorials and other stuff from this forum etc

+ What would a PANart friend be if not another tpye of drum?

Thanks

Alright Pete, breaking into all the forums I see :)

This forum is to predominantly talk about the Hang, occassionaly other instruments do get talked about as well but as it says in the title "The web community for Hang players and friends of the PANArt Hang"... the only Hang.

If you want to really discuss things like Halo's & BELL etc then you're better off over at handpan.org where those topics are discussed daily.

Also, don't call them drums, the Hang is a Hang, a sound sculpture that goes way beyond being a drum that you beat. The Hang is a delicate instrument that takes time to feel and hear the intricate sounds that you can produce.

Secondly don't look for tutorial on the instrument, just be at one with it, play it your way and you'll soon develop your own style and understanding.

You're coming to HangOut again, use that weekend to connect with people and the instrument. Don't just use it as a weekend to try and obtain an instrument, you need to get education on what the best one is for you and what you want to do with it. You obviously bought a tonugue drum and I assume quickly realised that they are not what you're looking for.

Kelly

Education is indeed the key, indeed its not a drum as its disscouraged by PANart, but it is an Idiophone, its trueI never know such a thing or even the word existed before today, The joys of learning all the time

Yes me, my didge and mood drum will be at the Hangout as I will again be surrounded by many different types of those things you see in the pic below that it all goes together well to make the weekend such a creative and informative entity.

Roll on the Hangout, and if you get time peeps come and say hi

Pete... you have much to learn man, much to learn. I feel you and me need a fireside chat over the HangOut weekend where I will give you some education on the world of Hang and Handpans.

This is not a question of being upset. It's a question of expert knowledge. If somebody would call a gong, a guitar or a trumpet a drum most people would think that this one is quite unknowingly about organology. It's the same with people calling a Hang a drum. :)
