New PANArt Website

http://www.hang.ch/

So what is the Gubal? Does anyone have any details?

How is the creativity of PANArt expressing itself this time I wonder...

On June 1st, 2013 the anniversary celebration of 20 years PANArt took place in Bern with 60 invited guests, most of them from Switzerland and a handful from Germany. During the festivity Sabina Schärer and Felix Rohner introduced their new instrument, the Gubal. On my way home by train from Bern to Dortmund I wrote this description of my personal impressions: 20 Jahre PANArt - Eindrücke der Jubiläumsfeier. Sorry, international readers, this is only in German.

Never trust Google Translate too much

"The Gu has moved to the top, now a constriction, which is surrounded by a ring thing." :?: :?

A constricted Gu?
And what is the relationship between the Gubal and the Lord of the Rings (ring thing)? :x

The Gung is not a constriction. The Gung is a Gung, nothing else (Gu -> Gung).
And the Ringding remains a ring ding in English: A ring-shaped ding.

And don't forget: Slope and hillside are the Google versions of the Hang.

Will the English version of the release be coming soon? I agree that Google has mangled it, but for us English only speakers, it's the most we've got to go on at the moment.

Very excited to see/hear/read about the news.

There will be a time when the Gubal will be shown to all hobbits, dwarfs, elbs, orks and humans - when the time will have come, this will happen. :)

I haven't planned full service for foreign languages for my text on hangblog.org. My time capacities are currently restricted.

Michael

Since I can't translate I can't volunteer. Would someone be willing to post a translation?

I ordered a copy yesterday too :)

Michael, do you know if they are all printed in English or Elvish? :)

This really is an exciting time, I envy your invite to the celebrations Michael I bet it was an incredible atmosphere when the Gubal was unveiled in Bern.

What was the evening like? I'd love to hear some stories from it if you have any you can share....

The books have different ISBNs depending on the language you chose to view the website (so there should be three versions, but no Elvish...).

Darn it, those Elvish language lessons were a waste of time then.... :)

As there are new terms, here some information about pronounciation for our not German speaking readers. It is important because there are some onomatopoetic correlations.

Gubal
The IPA code is [ˈɡuːbaːl].
The main stress is falling on the first syllable, which is pronounced in the same way as Gu (with a dark u like in lose). The a in the second syllable is a bit darker than in Hang. It is pronounced like in barkeeper.

Gung
The IPA code is [ɡʊŋ].
The first two letters Gu are pronounced like the goo in good. The last two letters ng are pronounced like ng in Hang.

Thanks so much for this information, Michael. We have great debts to your attentive and knowledgeable assistance.

Having no disposable income, I can't order the book, but if I could, I would!

(Also wishing you well with your health.)

I'm coming back here, because i knew thanks to the forum, that PANArt would introduce their new instrument while this period.

I want to thank you Michael for giving us a summary of the event you were invited to, for the " lauching " of the Gubal, it's very exciting to learn a little about it (maybe i didn't understand all of what you said well - i had to use google translation which is not really perfect - but i think i have got the main information).

I will try to follow the news about PANArt, in order to know more about the Gubal.

I cannot wait to hear it and to see how it looks like too - I'm glad to see that some men and women continue to advance their art in order to offer the best of themselves with passion, this is really what Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer inspire to me, even I've never met them (nowadays, this kind of people is so rare).

People seem to assume that the Gubal replaces the Hang (FIH), but I'm not sure of that. Of course, until now PANArt never went back to previous stages of the evolution of the Hang, but this time it is a different instrument with a different name. Will they stop producing Hanghang ?

Yes -- until I saw this yesterday I naturally thought like most people that the Gubal replaced the Hang, but after reading your short text ("Those considering purchasing a Hang or a Gubal will find important information and suggestions, that may help them make decisions"), I started re-thinking...

Does this mean they will continue with their letter-invitation scheme or begin a more commercial approach? That latter seems likely considering the wording however unlikely considering Felix & Sabina's business practices up until now. I await my book/cd and news from the website with baited breath.
